Join us for a relaxed willow weaving workshop where you will be led through the creative process involved to turn this natural material into a beautiful rustic garden item. Learn how to weave a bird feeder for fat balls, which can be hung in your garden. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, however willow weaving requires a reasonable level of hand strength and dexterity.

Age: 14+, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult

Create your own Willow Dragonfly 

Join us for a relaxed willow weaving workshop where you will be led through the creative process involved to turn this natural material into a beautiful rustic garden item. Learn how to weave a willow dragonfly that can be displayed on a stick, attached to a fence or suspended from a tree as if in mid-flight! This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, however willow weaving requires a reasonable level of hand strength and dexterity.

Join us for a relaxed willow weaving workshop where you will be led through the creative process involved to turn this natural material into a beautiful decoration. Learn how to weave a willow swallow that can be displayed in your garden or used as a wall decoration indoors or outdoors. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, however willow weaving requires a reasonable level of hand strength and dexterity.

Join us for a relaxed willow weaving workshop where you will be led through the creative process involved to turn this natural material into a beautiful decoration. Learn how to weave a five-pointed willow star from a range of different options. Use your completed star as part of your Halloween celebrations or even save it to use as a Christmas decoration! This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, however willow weaving requires a reasonable level of hand strength and dexterity.

L & S Crafts, based in York, is run by wife & husband team, Laura & Sam. Specialising in paper crafts, willow weaving and other natural crafts, with a focus on botanical and nature-inspired themes, they deliver workshops for individuals, community groups, festivals, and corporate events. Laura is a qualified and experienced teacher who really enjoys developing new workshops to pass on these skills to others. Sam is an amateur artist, a self-confessed dabbling sketcher, whose art is inspired by nature and the outdoors.

 

When and where are the workshops:

As part of the Yorkshire Halloween Festival, these workshops will take place on Parliament Street in the heart of York, within the “Willow Weaving” pop-up marquee.  The workshops will take place on the following dates/times:

 

 

Duration:

The Bird Feeder workshop will last approx. 1.5 hours

The Dragonfly, Swallow and 5 Point Star Workshops will last approx. 1 hour

 

Costs:

The willow weaving workshop is £20 – You can take home your creation with you directly after the workshop.

Capacity:

The willow weaving workshop is suitable for 6 people at a time.
