Willow Weaving Workshop

 

 

Come and have fun in this willow weaving workshop.  As part of the Yorkshire Craft Festival we will be hosting this fantastic workshop in the “Willow Weaving Marquee”, on Parliament Street, in the centre of York.

 

You will have a choice of creating:

* A willow plant obelisk

* A flying or hanging willow swallow

* A flying or hanging willow dragonfly

(you can choose on the day which you prefer to make)

 

You will be working in a small friendly group, working with willow which has been grown in Somerset and specially dried. In order to be suitable for weaving it is then soaked to make it pliable, or sometimes with fresh unsoaked willow in very early spring. The willow we use for this workshop will not grow.

 There is no age limit but children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent.

 

When and where are the workshops:

As part of the Yorkshire Craft Festival, these workshops will take place on Parliament Street in the heart of York, within the “Willow Weaving Marquee” .  The workshops will take place on the following date/times:

 10th April:  10am, 12 noon, 2pm & 4pm

11th April:  10am, 12 noon, 2pm & 4pm

12th April:  10am, 12 noon, 2pm & 4pm

13th April:  10am, 12 noon, 2pm & 4pm

14th April:  10am, 12 noon, 2pm & 4pm

Duration:

The Willow Weaving workshop will last approx. 1 hour.

Costs:

The  workshop is £20.

(Bookings cancelled within a month of the event will not be refunded)

Capacity:

The workshop is suitable for 6 people at a time.
