Willow Weaving Workshop
Come along and create your own handwoven willow sculptures and garden decorations with willow artist Toni Cross.
A whole series of workshops are available, including dragonflies, flying swallows, bird feeders and mini mice.
We will also have a small number of spaces for people who would like to make one of our popular frame baskets. This workshop is available each day at 10am for two people only. Toni will help you get started on your frame basket to the point of just needing to be woven to finish off. This is uncomplicated but quite time consuming, and whilst you are welcome to sit in the gazebos and finish your basket, you can also take away the materials to finish your weaving at home.
Great for keen gardeners and willow weaving beginners alike, these workshops are a great opportunity to learn a new craft, and enhance your house and garden.
When and where are the workshops:
As part of the Yorkshire Halloween Festival, these workshops will take place on Parliament Street in the heart of York, within the “Willow Weaving Marquee” . The workshops will take place on the following date/times:
27th October 1pm Dragonfly-make a flying or wall hanging dragonfly for house or garden
27th October 3pm Swallow-wall hanging woven swallows and swifts for indoor or outdoor display
28th October 1pm Dragonfly-make a flying or wall hanging dragonfly for house or garden
28th October 3pm Bird Fatball Feeder/garlic holder-use two weaving techniques to create a hanging feeder
29th October 1pm Willow Star-get ready for Christmas with this woven willow and wire star
29th October 3pm Mini Mouse-shelf sitting or plant sitter woven willow and wire mice
30th October 1pm Dragonfly-make a flying or wall hanging dragonfly for house or garden
30th October 3pm Swallow-wall hanging woven swallows and swifts for indoor or outdoor display
31st October 1pm Mini Mouse-shelf sitting or plant sitter woven willow and wire mice
31st October 3pm Bird Feeder/garlic holder-use two weaving techniques to create a hanging feeder
Frame Basket Workshop 27-30th October 10am £35
Duration:
The Willow Weaving workshop will last approx. 1 hour.
(The Frame Basket Workshop will take 2/3 hrs+)
Costs:
The workshop is £20. (excluding the Frame Basket Workshop which is £35)
Capacity:
The workshop is suitable for 6 people at a time.
There is no age limit but children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent-parents are welcome to help children, and one workshop space can be booked for an adult and child working together.
