Karen Winship Art

I am a York based artist and educator. I produce paintings in acrylic and oils but enjoy experimenting with all mediums.
I began my career as a Graphic Designer but embarked on my journey as a professional artist in 2012 after teaching in a maximum secure prison for 15 years and I’m now ‘living the dream’ . I am influenced by the effects of light and the narrative within a painting. This leads me to cover a whole range of subjects but my passion is portraits. I have done many bodies of work including ‘Between the Lines-living with dementia’ and ‘Portraits for NHS heroes’ which has been shown in York Art Gallery
