Autism Friendly Crackling Campfire Sensory Storytelling Session

 

Settle by the fire for a magical storytelling experience, suitable for adults and children with autism and other additional needs.  Listen to the fire pop and crackle, whilst we bring characters to life through shadow stencils, smells, Makaton signing and soundscapes. The space will be well lit, with the opportunity to explore all the props before we begin the story.  Don’t forget to roast a marshmallow on the fire before we finish!  Suitable for families, adults and children with additional needs.  Vegan marshmallows are available.

 

Brought to you by Toolbox Drama, an inclusive provision for adults with additional needs.  They deliver drama, music, dance and singing programmes on a weekly basis, as well as regular outreach workshops and large scale events.

Toolbox Drama ensure that their activities are accessible to a multitude of needs, whilst also delivering high-quality creative arts activity delivered by experienced performers and practitioners.

When and where are the sessions:

As part of the Yorkshire Halloween Festival, these sensory sessions will take place on Parliament Street in the heart of York, within the “Sensory Tipi” opposite Marks & Spencer. 

These sessions are held in a beautifully decorated tipi, dressed with autumnal decoration, providing a warm, cosy and enchanting backdrop to this magical experience.

The sessions will be private sessions, once your space is booked and confirmed,  the sessions will be “closed” so you the group will have complete privacy.

The sessions will take place on the following dates/times:

Monday 28th October at  1.00pm

Friday 1st Nov at 1pm

 

Duration:

The sensory sessions will last approx. 45 min. 

Costs:

The session is £7.50.

Capacity:

The session is suitable for 8 people at a time plus essential companions and carers.  Children must be accompanied at all times.
